I've tried this little trick on my two evods, and it seems to really cut down on the leakage. Gurgling is gone.

Haven't tried it yet on my Protank, so we'll see how that fares.

**WARNING**

DO NOT TRY THIS WITH THE ORIGINAL PROTANK.

It will cause the top cap to separate from the Pyrex tank.

Glad you posted that KJR! I watched the video and was just about to go and cannibalise a head for the Protank. I'll not do that now!

Yeah, thanks kjr! I would hate someone to damage equipment with a link I posted. I have now used it myself with an evod, works like a charm. Glass is another thing though. Thanks for the heads up.

Whew! Glad I posted it in time, then. That little trick does work for my evods, and I'm glad to say that I didn't suffer a catastrophic failure (check out my vocabulary!) with my Protank -- the mouthpiece just pulled away from the glass a little.  I removed the second gasket bit and pushed the unit back together; it may still hold up.

wabi, I wouldn't have faulted you for a lost Protank; it was MY idea to try it out.

Now, with the Protank II, it may be a different story since that one can be completely disassembled for cleaning, and this trick may work. However, due to 20/20 hindsight and recent experience, I can only urge extreme caution.

My modem is too slow and unreliable to view videos.  :'(

Would someone please tell me what the technique is?

take the round rubber gasket thing off an old protank or evod head (the one that is cup shaped) and put it on upside down on a different head so you then have two of them.  One in it's original position and the other that faces towards the center tube and provides a better seal against it.  It does however add thickness which if you torque down on it screwing the base back in may separate your tanks glued sections.

Thanks. Does that apply to the mini Protank as well?

Her fix should work theoretically on all tanks that take the protank style coil heads as they are essentially the same design.  The problem could also occur on any of these tanks that are glued in rather than the protank 2 which has a compression fit...not sure about the mini PT...i think it will.

If you try it on ANY Protank, vapingfool, just BE CAREFUL. Keep an eye on the mouthpiece/tank connection, particularly if it's glued.

The extra gasket puts pressure on the center tube, which in my case pushed the top cap/mouthpiece away from the glass.

I don't think I would try it on a glass tank, unless it was having major leaking issues. Works great with evods, but if you break an evod you aren't out too much cash.
