Stopped Smoking and Vaping at last

I have been a member here for x years (i can't remember how long) but after a a life time of smoking I stopped over around a moth using e-cigs 2012. It took me a lot longer to get off e-cigs though. Because I enjoyed vaping so much. Have been stopped now for about 18 months and I will not be going back on e-cigs or baccy cigs, that is why I haven't been seen on hear for a while.

Why did I stop smoking? Because I got diagnosed with COPD. I already had Asthma since age of 2, Still took a couple of years for me to decide to stop smoking, breathing got worse. I am now an octogenarian instead of probably just a memory.

So if anyone is thinking of stopping smoking , stop thinking and just do it.

Thanks for the update and really great to hear quitting both has been successful for you. I have been stepping down my nic level aggressively the last 4 batches. As much as I enjoy vaping I don't want to vape forever.

Hi Cas and Darth, pleased you are both seeming to be fit and well.
The important thing is that you bothe remain non smokers.
 Vaping although not heathy, is considerably more healthy than smoking.
I will continue to pop in , or is it on, now and again I found the Den to be a
very helpful place to visit for both information and encouragement.

I can honestly say i will never go back smoking,  the smell alone is horrible plus i am pretty healthy now.

Like caz, I don't expect to go back to smoking (for much the same reason) and don't expect to be caught in the ban-nicotine frenzy we are all watching. I could see the writing on the wall several years ago and bought enough nicotine base (even at my high rate of nicotine consumption - roughly 100 mg per day) to last beyond any likely lifetime. It's in the freezer, well-labeled, with Material Safety Data Sheets included. Of course, I could live to be 110 years old and confound my expectations; I will deal with that if it happens.

Caz : I am pleased you are still keeping well, don't forfet that over work is nearly as bad as smoking.

I don't mind the smell of cigs but a couple of months ago I tried one to see how I reacted. It tasted vile and conviced me that I would never start smoking again, that was just one light drag.

i tried one three months into vaping and i nearly threw up,   i threw it on the ground in disgust,   i remember being shocked at the time that i had actually smoked since i was 16 years old and could never recall that horrid taste.

I dont even remember how long i have been vaping now,   i know it was on a christmas day one year i had my last cig because i was really ill,   its gotta be around 14 years ago

At my current rate of use, I have enough nic to last me until I'm 95 years old. Frankly, that seems a fairly unlikely age for me to reach. My family on both sides seem to die of "old age" in mid to late 80s unless something cuts them down earlier. No centenarians in my family that I know of.

I think I'll be an optimist and hope that my heirs find some way to get the leftover nic base into the hands of someone who needs/wants it, rather than sending it off to be destroyed as hazardous waste, or worse yet, dumping it in a landfill.

My father was an optimist. He once said that he thought that his generation might be the last that had to die - that mine might have the option to continue living as long as they wanted. Well, it's not looking like the human race has reached that point quite yet, but I'll carry on the tradition and wonder if it is my generation (unlikely) or my kids' or grandkids' generation that will swap death-worry for wondering what to do with all the old folks.

pwmeek - I think for you Farther to be right to be so optimistic the scientists will have to find a cure for all known ailments and for old age. I think I would like my age to be frozen at mid to late twenties. Otherwise I don't think I would want to live forever.

LOL - in my mid to late 20s I was still making stupid mistakes. Mid to late 30s for me.

Well they say that smoking ruins your tastebuds but then that makes me wonder how stupid i was at 16 years old to contine after my first cig

I'm soooooo glad to see some activity on the Den site!!! RGB you have pulled off a near miracle in my not so humble opinion!!!!!!!!!!!  I'll be 86 the 25th of this month and thankful to still be alive and kicking but not very high.  Been using Eleaf Rim C mods for over 2 yrs. now with Innokin Slipstream tanks.These tanks DO NOT LEAK!!  Nicotine use is .6 mg.  I wonder what atomizer Caz is using ??  Glad to see all of you doing well.
