Lets see the recent builds!!
« on: August 19, 2016, 08:04:56 PM »
Pretty new to building and would like to see what people are running.

Here is mine

26g kanthal.  10 wraps over 2.5mm rod. Dual coil.

My first few were at 3mm and were easier to wick.

Any thoughts on how to fix that wacky first wrap?

They are pretty decent coils for someone new to building. Have you got a pair of ceramic tweezers??

Simple.

1: wrap your coil with one extra wrap
2: pull the wonky leg and let the whole coil rotate for a full turn
3: pop it in and do the rest

Thanks beyonder. I will give it a go. I use small nettlenose and dont fire while in contact. (Learned that the hard way).  I started using a coil jig.  My first few weren't even workable.

I use coiling rods, coil master make one. Perfect coils every time. I also use ceramic tweezers because you can use them while firing and make any adjustments needed while glowing the coil. I love both tools...

Many people would use either 9 1/2 or 10 1/2 wraps, then make right angle bends in the legs at the coil so the legs are perpendicular to the coil and parallel to each other.

In common wrapping terminology, the 9 1/2 turn coil would be called a 9/10 wrap and the 10 1/2 turn coil would be called a 10/11 wrap.

Yup. I have always considered gennies as best atties for fruit and drink juices. Juice I have in there tastes (absinthe, licorice and creme de menthe), uhh I kinda have to say "mud water sprinkled with grass" when vaped from an atty that uses cotton like a kayfun.

Look at that absolutely tiny chamber.

Old wick in RSST decided to start hotspotting like mad, so a new setup:

7x7 rope, roughly 11mm by 50mm strip of 325 mesh on top.

A mild case of overwicking at 25W.

Threw some of that Vandy Vape superfine SS316L to my El Diablo, 3mm ID six wraps single coil.

Doesn't look like much.

This coil is weird.

1st: its oddly angry, this is 35W.
2nd: it sounds like a flooded tank atty.
3rd: I'll have to admit, I'm getting very good flavor despite being a cotton setup. Not that in-your-face punch of flavor but close.

Oh and I bought a Therion DNA75.

Haha yup fitting description. Only time I've gotten a similar reaction is when pushing 150+ watts through 0,5x0,25mm dual claptons. That flooded noise is unique to this wire though.

A thing you folks should know about me: I have a tendency to go evil when bored. So I made an evil setup.

https://i.imgur.com/ElFxYRT.mp4 (how the hell do I embed Imgur mp4s?)

Resistance is a surprising 0,29 ohms. Parallel 0,5mm wire, 12 wraps total and VTC4 that has been literally charged once so it hits stupidly hard.
