New version 12.2.0.0 has been released!
Red warning text added for PG and VG when ratios are indicating a minus amount.
There has always been a pop-up warning but I felt an additional warning was needed for the few that have disregarded the pop-up warnings.
New recipes also added. If you have it installed already, setup will do an update only.

I have released version 13.0.0.1 with the note window visible on the main form. I left the Notepad option for those who have already created notes for their recipes.
The form is now landscape in order to fit everything on the screen. Download Here (http://"http://breaktru.com/ejuicemeup.zip")

Only pg i use in my mix is from the flavourings
Title: Re: eJuice Me Up - eJuice Calculator for the PC
Post by: danwldr on April 11, 2014, 06:38:12 AM
Because you are not using enough PG

Either dilutant, or flavour

Depending on how much flavour, ie - 80/20 VG/PG would mean you need 20% flavour if you are only using flavour for the PG

Adjust the PG/VG ratio :)+1

Well

As you are using PG as flavour

I can promise, you will never have 100% VG juice :))

If you use 10% flavour you can have 90/10

Or if you use 1% flavour you can have 99/1

But you will never have pure VG

So get as close as you "can" with as little flavour as possible

I tend to use 50/50 these days, plenty of flavour and clouds :)

Torb, I am not familiar with that calculator, but if you just put in the amounts you want for the flavor; it should tell you how much total dilutant  to add.   It may say PG . . . but just put that same amount of VG in your mix.

Adjust your target PG/VG ratio so that the PG that you add comes out to 0% PG

If you want, post a screen shot of what you are using and I can suggest to you your Target ratio

Yeah, you can always just add that .1ml of vg to make it the highest possible VG for that recipe.

eJuice Me Up version 14.2 has been released for downloading.
Additional recipes have been added.

I love this calculator, and have been using it for over 2 years.
There is one thing about it I wish you could/would adjust, and that's the "drops per ml"
You can only enter one option, and PG/VG/and flavorings all have a different count.
As it is now, I print it out with the drop count of my nic.
Then after printing it out, I go back and put the count in for the PG, calculate it, then again for the VG, then again for the flavoring.
I make the correction for each on the printed sheet.
It would really be nice to be able to have a section where you could enter the "drops per ml" for each, so when printed, I didn't have to go back and change them.
I have no idea if this is possible, but thought I would ask.
Like I said, I love this calculator and I will continue to use it, even though I have to make the adjustments.
Thanks

Looks good.

I have a few suggestions:

Move the Target Nicotine Strength and Amount to Make lines down with the Target PG/VG line. All the other values in that top block are input amounts.  This gets the three "output" parameter lines grouped together.

In the Resulting Recipe, if there is no flavor listed on a recipe line - display blanks instead of zeros.  By the same token, if Water/Vodka/PGA is not used, don't list it at all in the Resulting Recipe.

It is certainly the most versatile spreadsheet. Very nice.

Make the changes I suggested and it would be even better.  O:-)

A few additional suggestions:

When labeling the concentrations of the source solutions, change the labels to "mg/ml".

Make the spreadsheet dynamic - rather than having to press the Calculate button.

You might consider adding the ability to use two different nicotine base concentrations. For example, I have some in both 30 mg/ml and 100 mg/ml.

---

By the way, it is possible to use the calculator to boost the nicotine concentration of a premixed juice - if you are willing to put up with a bit of flavor reduction - or can order it with extra flavor shots.  This would be desirable if the vendor does not sell the higher nicotine concentration you desire. Just use the premixed juice as the "flavor". But you will need some nicotine base in the PG/VG ratio that you desire.

I wouldn't mix anywhere close to that 200 ml at a first attempt. If I were fairly confident that only minor tweaking would be necessary, I might mix 20 ml.  For a first attempt at a new mixture, I would mix 2 ml.

Since that is a "cake" mixture, it may require a month or more of steeping.

So would I need to adjust the amount of flavouring ie if making 10ml of juice & that tasted fine
Then wanted to make 200ml would I use the same amount of flavour or need to up the flavouring
Amount
Title: Re: eJuice Me Up - eJuice Calculator for the PC
Post by: vapingfool on November 30, 2015, 09:14:33 PM
Determine the amount of the flavoring needed for your desired 10 ml experiment.

Then, when wanting to make a new batch, divide the new volume in ml by 10 ml to get the new flavoring amount.

For example, to make that 200 ml of solution, you would want 200/10 = 20 times as much of the flavoring.

So if you used 1 ml of flavoring in your developed experimental 10 ml batch, you would use 20 ml for the 200 ml batch.

But I wouldn't suggest making 200 ml of the juice as your second batch.  I would make maybe 50 ml. If that also turned out fine, then you could probably mix a large batch.

Keep in mind that you might get tired of a mixture before you used up a large batch. It is not that hard to mix in smaller batches - I mix ones I know I will be using frequently in 30 ml batches.

I'm a newb, so don't kill me.  I'm just running some numbers to do test batches in theory.  The batch I'm running is 30pg/70vg, but I'm getting 4.46ml pg and only 3.74ml vg.  Shouldn't the numbers at least be skewed in the other direction even if they don't seem right?

Does 10ml of VG weigh more than 10ml of PG?

Serious question, just miffed a bit :(

Yes, roughly 20% more. VG has density 1.26 gm/cm3, PG has a density of 1.04 gm/cm3.

It's actually pretty common. Obvisiosly the volume method is fine, especially if you are mixing a juice with just one or two flavours but if you are using a recipe with 5-8 flavours, weighing is easier with no clean up after.
Title: Re: eJuice Me Up - eJuice Calculator for the PC
Post by: vapingfool on May 13, 2016, 12:07:34 AM
Pretty common where? In standard chemistry, liquids are measured by volume and solids are measured by weight. This is true even when making up standard solutions (probably the most precise measuring commonly done). Most of the solvent is added to the volumetric flask, the solute is added and dissolved, then more solvent is added to bring the total volume up to the calibration line.

With a graduated cylinder, there is little more clean-up than using your method, and a simple water wash/rinse is sufficient. The needle dripper bottles of flavoring makes volumetric measuring easy.

All the juice formulas I have see give percentages by volume. Unless you know the specific gravities of each flavoring solution, your "by weight" method is not accurate.

Like Dan, I will stick with ml's to the nearest 1/10 ml. If I wanted to be really anal about it, I have the equipment to measure in micro-liters - but it is not worth the effort. Even if only mixing 10 ml of juice, 0.1 ml is 1% of the total volume - and I can interpolate to half that or 0.5%.

It's cool man, I have the gravity weights for the flavours I use. I never said my way was the only way or the best way. I simply said it was easier, quicker and less cleaning up for me. If anyone wants to look into it, google it. Tons of info and lots of threads on various vaping forums. I meant it was quite common amongst diyers. Maybe not any on this forum but others yes.

That's a touchy subject among DIYers. Seen a lot of fighting between gram-ers and the ml-ers.
I personally use syringes and can mix up a recipe and clean up in very little time. I have also mixed by weight but prefer by volume.

Didn't realize it was a touchy subject. I did start out using volume and then read up and decided to try by weight. Works for me but whatever works for everyone else is cool with me.

As long as you do the calculations to weight correctly, either method is fine.

In reality, the only somewhat critical measurement is for the nicotine base, and even that does not have to be very precise.

I'm a ML'r hybrid.

I measure once using ML's and mix a 1000 times.

I just measure out my nic for the size bottle I'm filling.
I then make a permanent mark on the bottle with a Sharpie.
The flavoring I count the drops (can write it on the side of the bottle)
The PG and VG are done by eye in the 60/40 - 70/30 range.

If it works don't fix it. Honestly you can't mix any easier then that.

I make my current grail 500ml at a time.   8)

I use pretty much the same process:

1) Measure the proper volume of nicotine base
2) Add flavoring/s by volume
3) Fill the rest of the bottle with premixed PG/VG 50:50.

If a person mixes 100 ml at a time and use 100 mg/ml base, the calculations are trivial:

Of course, this ignores the carriers for the nicotine base and flavors. I buy my nicotine base premixed 50:50 PG/VG. I only use a few percent total of flavorings, so ignore its contribution to the PG total.
