Well, I have to personally blame Mark from Xtreme Vaping for this coming to pass. My belvoed Mini Novas are going to sit and gather dust and wait to be needed as a backup... which will never happen I suspect as I always have at least eight of my current clearo of choice on back up duty.
Now back to Mark from Xtreme and why this is all his fault. He turned me on to the iClear 16; the clearo that has just as good and possibly slighty better throat hit, better vapor production and equal in taste production to my beloved minis. But where it really propels itself beyond the mini is the ease of cleaning and more importantly the simplicity of filling it. With the Mini, you need to get into the ridge area at the bottom with a thin cleaning tool, in my case, normally a thinly rolled up paper towel and repeatedly swipe it along with gently wiping down the upper parts and then of course the plastic portion of the tank which has been removed. With the iClear, there is no ridge area to be concerned about so a few quick swipes along the bottom plus the normal pat downs of the wicks (same as you do on the mini) and a quick clean of the plastic tank and you are done. I know that that sounds like only one step separates the two items, but cleaning that ridge along the bottom adds heavily to the process (agreed we are only talking about 30 extra seconds, but time is time).
Then there is the filling. The one thing that I didn't love about my mini novas was that often when I filled it (or when I cleaned it even) the head would be knocked loose but I couldn't tell until I tried to vape with it. Then I had to either carefully pour the liquid out into another bottle or just pour it out and lose it. That absolutely drove me nuts. The other issue with the Mini is that you had to be careful and pour along the sides (normally touching the head with part of the bottle thus possibly jarring it loose) or you chance pouring fluid in the hole in the middle of the clearo head which leads to all sorts of additional issues. You could use a syringe to fill the atty as well, but I don't really have those so I was stuck playing jeopardy with every fill.
Now with the iClear 16, you just twist off the drip tip and pour. there is a tiny hole in the middle but with even the smallest amount of care you will avoid it (or not) and it won't matter much. To really create a problem you almost have to pour directly on the hole for a while.
The thing that was still holding me back and having me use my Mini Novas at least half the time is that I love my colored drip tips. You couldn't use them with the iClear 16. Well, Mark from Xtreme Vaping got in the 510 drip tip converters and I just tried one on my iClear. It works perfectly!!!! I am now officially completely on the iClear 16, which in my opinion is the easiest and best clearo on the market today.
